Light Field Sensor HighRes

Important technical features

Fast point cloud generation

Only a single shot is required to generate a point cloud, so even objects in motion can be captured and analyzed.

Flexible working distance

The K|Lens Light Field Sensor HighRes can be used at a wide range of working distances. The shortest native working distance is 500mm, which can be shortened to up to 70mm with the aid of attachment lenses. The working range extends from 40x60mm at 70mm working distance to approx. 200x300mm at 700mm working distance. Disparities can be determined up to a maximum working distance of approx. 15m.

Resolution and accuracy

Both the lateral and the z-resolution decrease with the working distance. The maximum achievable accuracy is 5µm in the lateral direction and 20µm in the z-direction. The image quality (contrast, noise, etc.) influences the achievable accuracy. Note: The specified accuracy refers to the repeatability. The standard deviation is specified, i.e. the measurement deviates from the true value by less than +/- 5µm in approx. 70% of cases.

Variable aperture and depth of field

The K|Lens Light Field Sensor has a variable aperture. Ideally, the sensor is operated with the aperture approx. 70% closed so that a high depth of field is achieved without impairing the image quality due to diffraction blur. At a working distance of 70mm, the evaluable depth of field is approx. 12mm.

Focus and calibration

The system has a focus ring for fine adjustment of the focus in the integrated state of the sensor. Please note that the system must be recalibrated after changing the focus.

Lighting

The integrated ring light emits diffuse white light with a light output of 46 W/m² @ 200mm distance. Other light sources can be integrated if required.

Integration options

Quick mounting plate

The K|Lens Light Field Sensor HighRes has a quick-mounting plate that enables safe and quick installation in the system.

Integrated components

Camera and light module are already integrated.

Connection and power supply

The camera is connected via a 10GE interface with RJ45 plug. A 24V power supply must be provided for the camera and light.

Flexible trigger modes

The camera has a variety of trigger modes that ensure flexible integration into the machine control system.

Customer-specific adaptations

Alternative cameras can also be integrated on request if, for example, a different data interface is required. A customer-specific adaptation can be ordered for this purpose. Alternative light modules can be integrated if the target application requires different lighting.

Software and APIs

The basic software for calibration and depth calculation, including the calculation of 3D point clouds, can be integrated via APIs (C++, Python, Halcon). This runs under both Windows and Linux.

Multiview data basis for AI models

Images from the K|Lens light field sensor can be used as the basis for highly efficient multiview AI models via multiview data curation and multiview training.

Synthetic data for efficient training

If too few data sets are available, our Multiview GenAI can generate synthetic data sets for efficient training based on images from the light field sensor.

Advantages of the K|Lens Light Field Sensor HighRes

Fast and efficient 3D analysis

Plug and play

No special mounting or complicated sensor setup is required. Install flexibly, calibrate quickly, see results immediately.

Analysis of objects in motion

The ability to capture and analyze objects in motion opens up new possibilities in the manufacturing and automation industry.

Flexibility and adaptability

Wide working distance

The flexible working distance starting from 70mm allows adaptation to different object sizes and inspection requirements.

Compatibility and integration

The compact design and compatibility with many industrial cameras facilitate integration into existing systems. Existing camera systems can be made 3D-capable at low cost.

Adaptation to tasks

The option of focus adjustment and the mounting of attachment lenses enable simple adaptation to various tasks. The use of any optical filters, especially polarizing filters, reduces reflections and improves image quality.

Precise and reliable inspection

Inspection of deep structures

The sensor enables precise quantitative 3D inspection of narrow deep structures that are difficult to access with conventional sensors.

High reflection robustness

The high robustness against reflections ensures reliable measurement results even for objects with reflective surfaces.

High-quality point cloud generation

The generation of high-quality point clouds, also in a unique resolution if required, enables precise 3D analyses.

Advanced AI applications

Multiview AI analyses from single image

The Light Field Sensor is the only sensor that enables high-performance qualitative analyses using the multiview AI solution from single images. This opens up new possibilities in the areas of anomaly detection, classification, segmentation and object detection.
